The Playboy Foundation is interested in social change documentary film projects that have nationwide impact and scope. Our grants are modest and range from $1000-$5000. For that reason, our film grants are limited to projects in post production and distribution.

Beginning in 2010, the Foundation will evaluate social change documentary film grant proposals once per calendar year. Submissions can be made from May 1 to June 30 for evaluation in July and August.  If you have questions about the program, please do not hesitate to contact the Foundation.

Please plan to send a copy of your film or rough-cut on DVD. DVDs will not be returned.

Requests for funds should include the following information:

·        Description of the project, including a film summary, distribution plan and experience in filmmaking.

·        Itemized project budget and proposed funding sources, amount of funds requested, their proposed use and over what time period. Project income and expenses.

·        Names and qualifications of people involved with the project, titles, outside affiliations and phone numbers.

·        Grants are not made to individual filmmakers. Please include the Internal Revenue Service verification from the sponsoring organization that states the organization is not a private foundation and is exempt from taxation under Internal Revenue Service sections 509(a) and 501(c)3.

·        A copy of the IRS tax-exempt letter for the sponsoring organization must accompany the proposal.

Proposals should be addressed to the Playboy Foundation Director at 680 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL  60611.  Priority is given to projects that meet the above criteria.
