What distinguishes the different business groups?
The Entertainment Group is focused on the business of delivering lifestyle and entertainment content for adults via television, film and radio. Its units include Playboy TV, Alta Loma Entertainment, and Playboy Radio. The Print/Digital Group produces the flagship U.S. edition of Playboy magazine, books and special editions, and works with partners to produce international editions of Playboy. It also creates content for subscription-based and free web sites including Playboy.com and for mobile networks via Playboy Mobile. The Licensing Group markets the Playboy trademarks on apparel, accessories and a variety of consumer products sold throughout the world.

How many editions of Playboy magazine are there?
Capitalizing on Playboy's global recognition and reputation, the Company began expanding its publishing franchise overseas more than 30 years ago. Today, locally produced editions of Playboy are published in 26 countries:  Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine, and Venezuela. An estimated 9.8 million adults read Playboy's international editions each month, bringing the magazine's global readership to over 18 million.

Are there still Playboy Clubs?
On February 29, 1960, the first Playboy Club opened in Chicago.  The success of the club quickly spread domestically to cities from coast to coast, becoming the most successful nightclub chain in history.  In the more than two decades of operation, Playboy Clubs sold nearly 2.5 million membership keys.  The Playboy Clubs, together with the hotel, casino and resort facilities, eventually included 40 properties in 25 states and seven countries. The last of the original Playboy Clubs closed its doors in Lansing, Michigan in 1986.

Then on October 6, 2006, Playboy opened a Playboy Club as part of a multi-faceted entertainment venue in conjunction with the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The property includes a Playboy Club casino, Hugh Hefner Sky Villa, nightclub and Playboy store. Additional venues are currently under development in Mexico and South Beach and will allow consumers to further interact with the iconic Playboy brand and lifestyle. 

When was the first issue of Playboy published?
The HMH Publishing Co., Inc. was incorporated in Delaware on October 1, 1953. Hugh M. Hefner launched the first issue of Playboy in December of that year with $600 that he borrowed plus approximately $8000 received from stock in his new corporation sold to about 40 acquaintances. In 1971, the company went public under the name Playboy Enterprises, Inc.

What is the origin of the Rabbit Head logo?
The Rabbit Head symbol, designed by Arthur Paul in October 1953, is one of the most recognized trademarks in the world.  Designed for multiple uses and for easy recognition, the Rabbit Head was conceived to reflect the entertainment aspect of Playboy.  The logo was designed to depict the lighter side of life, the rabbit being, to many people, the "playboy" of the animal world.

What is Playboy magazine's circulation?

Is Playboy pornography?
Playboy offers a rich editorial mix of fiction, articles and interviews. Beautiful women have always been an integral part of Playboy magazine. Former Playboy Enterprises, Inc. CEO Christie Hefner, who fielded this question often, gave this response: "One man's pornography is another man's erotica. For those who enjoy reading Playboy, there's no dichotomy in the fact that the magazine has an erotic component and an intellectual, humorous and celebrity component; that is the world they would like to live in."

What is the Playboy Foundation?
As the activist arm of the Playboy Philosophy, the Playboy Foundation was established in 1965 as the corporate giving program of Playboy Enterprises, Inc. The Foundation awards grants and other assistance to organizations committed to protecting civil liberties, combating censorship, and promoting education and research on human sexuality. Through grants, matching funds and event donations, the Foundation has donated over $20 million to nonprofit groups.

Playboy Enterprises, Inc. made its initial public offering on November 3, 1971 at $23.50 for each PLA share. In June 1990, the company recapitalized creating two classes of stock and effectively doubling the number of shares outstanding.
